I caught the article in sneaker freaker which led me to this post. I'm probably older than everyone here and not sure if any of you share the same experience, but I grew up outside NYC in the 60s playing bball in elementary school. Back in the day, the only game in town were chucks and your performance shoe was the chuck hi top and only available in white and black canvas. When I was in the 6th grade, both the Puma Clyde and the Adidas Superstar and Pro Model began to surface and it was a revelation... the first bball shoes that were in suede and leather and only available in white with black stripes...I was in heaven...there weren't any video games, no pc or mac, no internet and the no real ads for these shoes and no way of knowing when a new shoe was coming out...i could go on and write a book but I will stop there...
i will give you one more tid bit...when i was in college in the early 8os I started hanging out in night clubs like the Roxy in NYC which started featuring all the hot new hip hop acts out there...got to see and hang with the rock steady crew and grand master flash etcc... and rocked my shell toes there as well...
good to be a part of the group...btw im a collector of the classics and also not so classic and have over 400 in my collection at present
Yes, who am I?
I was born and raised in Lund, the university city deep down in the south of Sweden.
Born 1981 and thanx to my older brother, I grew up loving Run-DMC more than anything right from the early dayz of '86.
I got my first Superstars '88 when I started school and that's all because of my brother who had asked and nagged our mother since '85 about a white pair of adidas called Superstars. So I took my chance of asking her about the white sneakers, 'cause everybody knows that mothers don't like buying white kicks to their little menance to society because they know that if your kid is wild the shoes won't last, certainly not white of course. So I had to swear to be potechtive of my new white, with black stripes, superstars.
Due to the fact that I was a bit of a fighter, or at least a lot of fights happend around and with more or less me in them, one pair of sneakers could get kind of torned up so I had to brush and clean them almost every day before I got home. But all that work with cleaning and brushing those hot kicks payed off earning me another pair the next year.
Evan when the '90 came I still rocked my Superstars, still one pair, still cleaning them a lot, still white with black stripes..
'97 I left home and moved to Stockholm, the Capitol of Sweden, to continue my studies and after two years I understood that I needed more sneakers, diffrent colors so I bought three pairs myself, one pair white with black stripes, one pair of brown leather with white stripes, also white shelltoe and white sole and the last pair was with dark navy, white stripes, white shelltoe and white sole. From now on I started to collect sneakers and now i got more than 200 pairs.
I still live in Stockholm and work with street fashion and are close friends with both Sneakersnstuff crew and the Six Feet Down crew.
I'm known in Stockholm as Skåne, witch is the name of the area I'm from in swedish, in english its Scania.
Hello,
I've been reading this forum and now here I am,
My name is Alice, I'm from the north of France and I'm an art student.
I'm just crazy about Adidas sneakers, but I don't have a lot of pairs, because I spend to much time on the internet to find the PERFECT pair for me,
I also don't have a lot of money haha, I think it's more difficult to find some pairs of adidas from limited series in France, sneakers are rarer, espacially for women size...
excuse my english ![]()
thanks
Hey!
Sorry for that late introducing...
I´m darula (it doesn´t mean "the ruler") from a village near Herzo. I´m collecting sneakers since about 8 years. And I wear ALL of my shoes. I think they won´t get better by lying in their box in a closet...
Of course if u have holy grails, you try to get more than one pair and keep one of those safe for later ages..
To be honest, I´m not that superstar freak but I like ´em. I more like the ZXs and some BBall Sneakers. Anyway, I try to get to the adidas factory outlet at least once a week...
Yo guys Olstar has changed my username (previously MrShoeShotta), just in case anyone is confused ![]()
Looking forward to being less professional on here!
Happy B-day SK! Have a good one mate!
...in all the wrong places, it seems.(sorry, that was wack, I know) I'm having a hell of a time finding quality stuff on this side of the pond. I'd happily buy online if they ship international but I'm not having much luck there either. I'm not a fat laces kind of cat, I prefer the 10mm width. Any help is much appreciated.
Hi there!
Sorry for not introducing my self - I will later!
I've searched the internet 1000 of hours in my life to find some more right Superstars for me in the right size. The best ones are always sold out in my size... (9,5 US).
I've just looked on shoebacca - good site, but again - the best ones are sold out.
Can you recommend some other sites?
I live in Denmark, Europe, so they have to ship international...
)
Best regards,
Michael
Hey there guys.
well i've finally hit 150 posts... took me a while! ![]()
anyhoo, to the more important topic; adidas x diesel jeans.
my friend has a BNWT pair of adi-larkee jeans.
measurements are 34x32. He bought them a while ago and can no longer return them because he's lost the reciept. so he's trying to sell them.
they retail here for $274.99 CDN (as shown on the tag) and he bought them for $174.99 CDN on sale.
He knows he wont get the 175$ back but he's looking to make as much back as possible.
if anyone's interested just shout out an offer and i'll let him know!
cheers guys.
Anyone know if the adidas online shop is the cheapest place to get these? Just seen them and really want a pair. £65 is a fair price, but if I can get them cheaper then all the better, as i've only recently spent that much pre-ordering the denim supes.
Any help appreciated (and if you don't like them, lets not waste time and space by saying so...use your inside voice!
)
