Hey everyone.

Iv not acutally been member of forums for ages now, but yeh I reckon ill be sticking around here. Im Matt, 19 from Manchester in the UK, i'm a freelance website designing stoner (also a bartender) and I like to skateboard in my spare time.

I already own some Stan Smith ST skate shoes (there like a year old and stink now) and some Gazelles, I used to have a small nike shoe collection but have somehow managed to outgrow them in the last 3 years so as a Adidas fan im trying to get a new collection starting with Superstars. Very Happy

Yeah, thats about it from me really. Haha ill be definately posting on here often now I know this site exists.

Hey.

I didn't realise there would be a whole forum dedicated to just one type of shoe! But its ace, ill be sticking round here.

Anyway today im going to purchase my first superstars from eBay.

I just have a few questions first.

How wide are they in comparison to Gazelles and Stan Smith STs. I own both pairs but I rarely wear my Gazelles because they are too thin to go with my baggyish jeans, I always wear my Stan Smiths because they have lots of padding, are wider, and are just more comfortable. I was just wondering how these Superstars would compare. Smile

And it never ocurred to me about fakes on eBay until I came here, so judging by that above picture, are they genuine? I reckon so but someone elses opinion wouldn't hurt.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all.

My name is Lee and I was born and bred in Perth Western Australia. I am 33 and I have a problem. I'm about a 1 pair a week addict and after about 2 and a half years of collecting I have about 125 pairs of sneakers, with more currently in transit. I am a graphic designer and also the Graphic Design Coordinator at Curtin University of Technology. I have used my love for sneakers quite a bit over the last couple of years, while teaching colour theory I systematically worked my way through the colour spectrum over 12 weeks, much to the students delight when they caught on about 7 weeks in. I have also run a number of briefs with my final year graphics students, including: thematically designing custom superstars and accompanying merchandise (I have seen some great designs come from this) and most recently I had this years group design the identity, signage, layout and promotional material for a sneaker boutique.
Perth is in a slightly different timezone, in that we are about 5 to 10 years behind the rest of the world in many stakes. Perth is the most geographically isolated capital city in the world. Its major source of income is its mining industry and it is because of these facts that I am considered somewhat strange for my obsession, even the Head of the Fashion Department, where I work, looks at me with those judging eyes. My fiance thinks it is great to show her friends my clothes and sneaker room as though I am some kind of circus freak.
I have one whole room of the house which is dedicated to my wardrobe, with shelving display units for all of my sneakers and an array clothes horses. A number of years back I gave up a much more hazardous addiction for this one and as such I am easily able to self justify. I currently have over 300 T-shirts - about 50 of which are Adidas, about 100 jackets - about 40 Adidas, 125 pairs of kicks - about 110 Adidas, about 90 shelltoes. All of these are arranged throughout the room by colour. This allows for maximum efficiency when getting dressed in the morning - one simply chooses their shoes for the day and then goes to the corresponding colour on the T-shirt racks and then the jacket racks.
As someone diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder I feel I have turned my addictive personality down an acceptable path. I have attached a pic showing which Adidas I currently have (green dots) and those I would like (pink dots).
Well that's probably enough of a rant for now, so in concluding I would just like to say Hi to all.

Well, its more of a ensemble of mostly worn trainers, but a few gems in there (not worn yet!), and a couple of SS's (which of course are gem also....). Smile

In no particular order:-

Antelope, Training 72, Greenstar, Specialz, 3 x Italia, Sneekers, Paris, Aesop Rock Stan Smith, Material of the World Lavender Gazelle, Gazelle, Nastase, SS Top Secret, SS Rock-a-Fella, Samoa, Asics Tiger Mexico 66 Size? 4 0f 40, Asics Tiger Mexico 66 Graduation, Asics Tiger Mexico 66, Asics Tiger Shot Putt, Asics Tiger Samples, Puma Roma 68.

I have a couple of older pairs including a pair of campus, but those are proper fooked, probably due to their use as safety boots when doing the house up!

Sad If you look closely you can see the lack of some of the detail on the back plate of the Top Secrets.... Oh bugger.

Just got a new pair of superstars, plain white with black stripes.. not sure how thick to buy the laces so thought some of you guys could help me out. I have no idea how fat or thin they should be in order to make them look good, I've seen some pics around ssdb but I'm not sure how thick the laces are.

Hi there all nice to have finally got the time to post an introduction. Ok so here goes, my name is Simon Cooper and i am a 35 year old overgrown child from Truro in Cornwall. I work for BT during the day and week nights am generally in the pub or at home preping for the weekend when i am a DJ playing dirty Acid Techno or Dubstep (not always at the most legal venues) , I always had a thing for nice trainers but never one style in particular, had the odd pair of superstars here and there but was never obsessional about them. However about 6 weeks ago a combination of seeing a really nice pair on a random at a party, combined with the kicking of a 40 a day Red Marlboro habit, much trawling of the net occurred and here i am 6 weeks and 8 pairs of superstars into what my mates are now calling a habit only slightly healthier than the smoking ( I am still quit by the way, no patches no gum, just will power and my next pair of kicks to focus on)

when i have the time i will try to get some pics of the obsession so far, but at the rate i am going it will be twice the size by then

Well here is my small start into the world of Superstars. Yes there are a few Stan Smith's in the photo....but it helped take up space and made me feel like I have something! lol
Those Skulls I picked up the other day for $40 US which I thought was good seeing I never see them anywhere...at least not around here.
