Jeez, as a few people have said, it's an AUCTION.
Screw it, just do what I do. Don't bid, just drop in a max price 10-20 seconds before the acution ends. 98% of the time, I get what I want, and I get it cheaper than if I started bumping the price up early on. (I can almost here you all exclaiming how scandalous this is, but the hell with it, if it's something I want, i'm not gonna let it slip by)

I think that if you want it for yourself, don't bloody tell everyone about it, but if it's not your size, mention it in passing.

Bottom line, I agree with Olstar and the others. I don't think anyones ever gonna be 100% happy, but what can you do eh. Them's are the breaks!
