I was joking about the cut and paste malarkey.
If Effel didn't know the laptop was in this sort of state then he shouldn't have said it was tip top apart from the keys, either way, he's responsible for it's sub-standard state.
He needs to make you satisfied or he's out of here.
If he even gives a shit.

This is not good.

Did you pay via paypal?

If so raise a dispute until you hear back from him.

You are well within your rights.

Thanks for the support folks... I too hope he's just actually busy and not avoiding contact. Yes, paid via PayPal, guess I'll have to do that though did not want to at all...

I emailed him a few days ago and this day and age I seriously doubt he hasn't seen his emails.
I'd start proceedings cos no matter what, selling that piece of shit on here knowing full well it's not in the condition he's advertising is cuntish, to say the least.
Sorry it happened to you Einz, particularly through here!

So I'm rather confused now as to whether or not Effel is a legitimate guy:

I've just now (not even more than an hour or two ago) setup a PayPal dispute and asked for 50% of my money back (which I think is fair for both of us, given the circumstances). The funny part is that almost immediately (minutes ago) I receive an email from PayPal saying the seller has requested that the dispute be escalated to a claim.

Does this mean what I think it means? That Effel's sitting there, fully accessing his email, deciding to not respond, and knowingly dragging this on? Or is there some way that would've happened automatically without his consent...?

Any help on the matter would be much appreciated.

On closer inspection it does seem that PayPal updated the dispute to a claim automatically... so my apologies if I jumped the gun on that one...

I agree with spite and Olstar, I've never had any dealings with Effel so I can't comment on whether he's pulled a fast one, but you've always helped me out, if he won't communicate with you to sort it out I'd be asking for a full refund, he's only got himself to blame.

Can you give me an update on the situation please, Einz?

Certainly Pure... update is that I've not heard a single peep from Effel. My case finally got approved by PayPal, but they are telling me to send the laptop back to him, provide them with a tracking number, and once he verifies the return then I will receive a refund. There is NO CHANCE I'm doing that, after what has happened already. I'd rather keep the laptop then lose it and risk not even getting the refund.

Also, Effel mentioned moving when he first sent it to me, so who knows if it would even make it back to the right place or not.

Any advice? Should I call PayPal to try and explain the situation? Would be fantastic if they would at least cover a partial refund...
