Is it time to lock the forum ?
#16

That's what I thought you meant and that's exactly what that section was designed for.
The Adidas Superstar section was supposed to be for cataloguing and discussing different types and colours of Supes which it still is.
We need to move away slightly from just posting in the New Supes thread all the time cos some items are worthy of a thread of their own but idle chit chat about stuff, including Superstar related bizzle should probably stay where intended as we're mostly in here to chat about Superstars.

Another thing with all this is that older members who's opinion I'd much rather hear and value (sorry noobs) pop in and see loads of people posting who's names they don't recognise and subsequently don't bother to say fuck all.
And it'd put a stop to all the lurkers who bop about in here, gleaning bits of information but giving fuck all back who then go on to buy up limited editions for resale and or depraving the genuine collectors amongst us.

*Edit.
Now we're talking. Yeah, that could be good if doable.
A decent introduction would go a long way complete with pictures.
Access to chat but no posting.
I definitely want to stop lurkers seeing new releases and gaining that information.

*Double edit.
Meanwhile, the dredging continues !

*Triple edit.
Not the greatest introduction but at least he's asked for the way around.

At the end of the day.. It's Ollie's forum.. I guess we'll have to wait to hear his take on it all.

As a relatively new member myself I think it would be a shame to totally close the forum to new people but I do think we need something putting in place to stop "unknowns" from bombing the place into oblivion like our latest member did last night.

I don't know anything about how internet forums work but if it's possible to limit new members access to certain threads or prevent them from being able to start new threads I definitely think that would be a step in the right direction. It's a slippery slope though and I'd say we proceed with caution and not make any kneejerk decisions. Maybe have a temporary trial period or something?

I know im new but still annoying when people just spam and stuff : /
Couldn't you restrict the number of posts to like 10 or less every 12 hours for people who are, lets say less that 14 days old? or something like that? That could help

For sure, it'd have to be a trial period first.

I agree with Shotta - Intro only, then read only access to the chat threads until approved.

As one of the newer members i'm lucky that i've only seen a small section of the nonsense that the SSDB Po-leece have to deal with.
Bottom line is it's you guys that give up your time to monitor their shizzle and if you feel like measures have to be enforced then that's how it runs.
As a few members have suggested, just as the 'buy & sell' forums are locked you could limit members access to certain threads until they have proved their intentions with-in the forum.

El Samo has a decent idea, all noobies send a few para's about themselves to the forum Po-leeeeece (and Ollie?) and they can mod them from there. However saying that I only had three pairs when I first came on here.

and Mr Dassler did brighten my sunday morning! Cool
