Superstar Vintage Stars Reflector
#31

Totally !
Living in London and bopping around Soho is bad enough.
Wearing an unfortunate icon of the gay community, such as the Superstar is, is even worse.
Putting rainbow coloured laces in them would be tantamount to advertising my rectum for sale round these parts !

yeah. i was going to try to rock the rainbows, but when I put them on they were WAY too '70s roller disco.

they look a lot better with normal vins laces.

I never knew that about the Superstar Neutral. Oh well, I still like them. The rainbow laces are going a bit far though I think. happy10

it's just one of them things, ain't it? adopting a certain item of clothing isn't exclusive to the gay community. look at how the '80s hip hop community adopted the kangol hat and them big tortoise shell glasses. or how gangs adopted khakis (originally military gear) and chuck taylors.

I don't think there is a story behind it really.
And, obviously, it didn't put me off wearing them.
It's been the reason for much piss taking in here over the years cos you can tell a B-boy Superstar wearer apart from a gay one cos the gay one has 'em tied up tight and usually uses a bow !
