So, this weekend I am going to be finding out if it is possible to tattoo supes. A friend has loaned me his tattoo gun and some supplies and I have some white practice kicks, so I will let ya'll know what happens. Fingers crossed.

Sounds interesting Sneakerphile, can't wait to see.
I hope you'll take them to the pub first to get them pissed... then tattoo mum on their heel tab!Laughing

Good luck on that Dean and can't wait to see the finished prod! Similar to the lasering effect perhaps (minus the ink of course)?...

Any hints on what you're design will be?

No design at the moment, just literally gonna see if it can be done.
If it works out ok, then I may well get myself a small kit and see what I can come up with. I could be the first person the start doing custom tattooed kicks Laughing (unless someone else is already doing it!)

i've never seen or heard anyone doing yet

I'm not sure it'll work as the leather won't behave in the same way.
If anything it'll give worse results than painting.

Pure was right, looks like tattooing supes is a bust! The leather is not supple enough. Also, the ink stains the leather too quickly. When you get ink, the tattooist has to stop to wipe of the excess ink, but on the leather I found it was staying unless you wiped it off really quickly with a damp cloth, so just to do a small line I was having to stop every couple of seconds to wipe down, so to do a complete design would take forever. It may work better on softer leather, but then the staining would probably be even more of a problem. Still, it was worth a try.
Think the only thing would be to do design on a piece of separate untreated leather then attach it to the shoe (a collab with ghettro would be needed!)
Oh well, back to the airbrush it is then Very Happy

Would have been a cool concept S. Could see the BeastHype blog in my minds eye.
What are you after, a fine detail approach?

Tried out a new technique for customising, sensibly on my sister in laws new vins.. It's her initials in a monogram type thing. Has come out ok but probably better on a plain surface rather than the kind of vintage textured paint on the craft packs. Sealed perfectly so will stay as long as any custom paint job.
Let me know what you think. [Image: IMAG1231.jpg]

Looks good, but wasted on a vin. Wink
