Don't think these have been posted before, the Crooked Tongues Superskates for the CT BBQ in Bangkok

Crooked Tongues Wrote:Seeing as the reception to a sneak peek that only uncovered part of a sample pair next to an illustration was pretty damned positive, it'd be unfair to not let y'all see our CT BKK BBQ Superskate in its full glory. First things first - why a Superskate? It's a wearable shoe that remains a firm favourite with the CT crew and user-base, still retained a ton of untapped potential in terms of makeups, and looks good with shorts. And when it’s created to tie-in with Bangkok BBQ, compatibility with short trousers is something of a necessity.

Deliberately resisting the temptation to get wild on the Pantone chart, white, off-white and a sparing amount of a rich red seemed to make an effortless impact, but our creative team wanted to let the details get a word in without descending into rush hour and killing the cleanliness of a cult silhouette.

In terms of materials, the stripes have been given the faux-elephant treatment but left neutral to let the texture speak for itself and there’s a fair dose of nubuck on the upper. The external lower side panels have been made from red suede, while their inner equivalents are grey. The red lining is a little more flamboyant than your average, housing a gold printed sockliner, and we’ve added some touches that fall beyond mere aesthetics.

Beyond the return of the Crooked Tongues lettering last seen on our adicolor BK3 release last year, and resurrected here in gold, added continuity and purpose arrives via the rubberized material utilised on the Century’s upper. Used here in white and looking particularly effective on the toe, offering a little protection against any scuffs or surprise summer showers, this addition also discreetly harks back to the timeless Bungert, full or half shell detailing. Beyond the stitched and embossed logo, the leather tongue and toe box have been heavily perforated for added comfort in a hot climate, in addition to the holes between each stripe.

Finished with a vivid heel tab and panel that carries the Thai translation of our mantra and party motto, “Show love and drop knowledge”, three sets of metal tipped laces and a gum sole, we’re very pleased with our latest creation. Produced in a limited quantity of 300 especially for the impending event on the 19th of August, they’ll be given to lucky attendees on the big day...

Insane. They're the nicest pair of superskates I've ever seen.

Yeah I like them, the gumsole sets them off nicely I think.

This has got me thinking though, how can CT get 300 pairs of a one-off shoe made by adidas??? Fair enough CT is a massive trainer website, I'd say the biggest and most well known going but even so it seems odd?

I'm sure you all know where I'm going with this next Laughing

A SSDB customer superstar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wishing it was like the old days again

I've been wondering myself what the chances are of a SSDB Superstar.
How would we go about making one happen? Nice letter and a petition?

That would be absolutely great! Which materials and colors should the ssdb superstar have? Which style? Vintage or SS1? Or SS 2?

whack lacing is killing your shoes!

They are tasty, nice to see a bit of variety and thought (adidas, take note)

I reckon with CT's connections, they must get a similar kudos to FP, WESC, D-Mop, Union etc in having a collab with adidas.

I reckon a nicely presented case to adidas would see us get a chance, start by getting a few ideas together. Using the template for 'design your own', we could have a poll and see who likes what.

Olstar could show the passion we have to adidas and see what happens......

U never know y'all!

Peace

I reckon it'd be a long shot - as there would be well less than a hundred members on here who would get them, although if they were hyped and limited to very small numbers then membership of the site might increase - at least momentarily.

The one problem I see with it is that we don't really have a logo of own own other than
[Image: logo.gif]
which is essentially (no disrespect meant here Olstar) an altered version of adidas' own logo

It'd be fantastic if it did happen though, and I'd be well up for a pair Very Happy

I'd be down for a pair as well. Currenlty trying to do a custom job for an ALS benefit in memory of my friend that past away from it. going to look something like the 35th Dassler's I think.
