I still think that there should b a choice for a place to be smoking or non smoking. as for litter, taxes pay towards litter collection and smoking ain't illegal!

Well if cannabis is illegal then alcohol bloody well should be, nobody ever died from the munchies but plenty of people die every day from alcohol related illnesses.

Some people die indirectly from cannabis, but not nearly as much as from booze, directly or otherwise. I have a horrible feeling george orwell was right......

As a smoker i think that surely we could have had smoking pubs/establishments and non-smoking ones?
The Government has not done this at all fairly and i too have to go to an outside smoking shelter that has had 50% of its panels removed so now it is freezing cold. windy and when it rains i get wet and there is no logical point to it? The argument was that we inhale less smoke!! But we are smokers and know the risks and as grown ups it my/our choice.
I dont go to the pub to be healthy!
I love living in a democracy its all so fair!
The world has gone mad and most of it doesnt make sense.

Back in the fifties nearly everone smoked and there was less air pollution.

These days nearly everyone dosen't smoke and there is more air pollution.

These days, more people suffer with asthma and lung diseases.

These days there are more "new" cancers - especially in children.

I think its the man made chemicals from industry and cars, lorries etc that has contributed to these new diseases more than smoking ever did - be it passive smoking or not!!!!

And of course - the government MUST think its OK - because you can smoke in the parliamentary bars!!!!!

I have lost a number of family members to cancer - most of them didn't smoke!

Well - thats my view!!!

Its a tricky area i grant you and different experts have come up with different views over the years but there are some that reckon passive smoking doesnt exist, some that reckon that the air that we have to breathe is far more deadly than sitting in a smoke filled pub and because we cannot see the pollution that we breathe but we can see cigarette smoke that it has become an easy target?
Do you think that the Governments would really tell us just how deadly the air is that we all breathe in ? I doubt it very much. That needs to be tackled first in my opinion.

I'll stop smoking when these fuckers stop telling me too! Like a goddamn police state.
If the government gave too shits about public health, they would stop the production and importation of cigarettes and make them totally illegal! But they won't becuase they make too much money off them.
They want to be seen to be doing something, but they can't do too much or they screw themselves.
Fuck it, i'm gonna start smoking nothing but Cuban cigars in public from now on. Anyone wanna join me, check this site out - http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/document.aspx?id=home.htm

My point exactly. I had someone make that annoying tutting noise at me before for smoking at a bus stop. An open bus stop, right on a busy main road with constant traffic!!! How the fnuck is my tiny little cigarette bothering these ass-clowns, but the metric ton of carbon monoxide they're chugging down from the traffic isn't a problem?

Wouldn't be any point as 99% of pubs would choose to keep smoking

And why should non-smokers taxes pay towards cleaning up smoker's litter?

Alchohol is very dangerous. an' yes so are cigarettes but d government ain't making as much off d fags in relation to their spending on the NHS.

as for woody's point, its a valid point but i say that its up to the establishment (pubs etc) to decide for themselves. after all, it ain't like some 5 year olds running them.
