adidas wont give me the exact figure on how many were made but they said it was under 500

Tommy Guerrero's varied career as pro-skater, psych-folky guitar strummer and graphic designer for Krooked Skateboards, run by living legend and equally deified art-type, Mark Gonzales (whose pleasantly bonkers, superwide Stan Smith is worth your time) has afforded him legend status, and with the Gonz's links to adidas' burgeoning skate department, it was logical that Tommy would get in on the action again, after his previous dalliances with the brand with three stripes. This time its the turn of the Soft Celled Superstar Skate to get Guererro's acid-fried world-view, with the shoe acting as a fine space for art-collaborations. Using the same black and yellow combination that saw a young Gordon Sumner given his rock-bore moniker of Sting for his bee-like sweater, a distinctive and unpredictable diamond cross-hatch pattern, dozy eyes on the panelling, bright stripes and detailing that's even on the tongue's Trefoil, and his borderline sinister flowery imagery is also emblazoned on the sockliner

It's an interesting, distinctive piece for the collection that's getting a party in San Francisco next month to commemorate its release with the shoe's creator DJing on the night, 100 ultra-limited, numbered Krooked decks for the first 100 to dig-deep and invest in the product in question. Launch parties are ten-a-penny, but where this already appealing event trumps the competition is in its proposed Krooked Superstar pinatas (4 foot by 2 foot no less) and filled with free product, that'll be cracked open on the night with inevitably messy consequences - a top piece of self-indulgence that we're guessing, might be the product of Tommy's fevered imagination.
