Pokey needs a new camera
#11

Yeah certainly a cheaper option especially as you can get a "free" PS3, Wii or X-Box 360 with the right deal.

There is a new Sony Ericsson out with a good camera dunno what it's name (think it's the c902) but there is this one coming out (dunno when) with an 8 mega pixel camera and Wi-Fi!!!!

And always ask for the deal that you want, I used One Stop Phone Shop last time, called them up and got a deal that they weren't advertising.

I know fook all about camera's but the one i've got now struggles with close ups/details..Mainly use my camera for ebay taking pics of items and also taking pics of my superstars and the odd pic of the dog so dont need anything super flashy

Don't confuse me with other models ffs Laughing Surely 12.1 pixels thingy bobbies is enough and will be able to cope with close up shots/detail

Got to agree with Cracky, mostly.
I bought the DMC ZX1 and it fucking rocks.
Great HD video if needed, a shitload of preset image modes and off to first shot in 1.2 seconds !
A pukka camera for sure.

mums got a lumix... not sure what model it is but I'll find out when shes in the office next

unfortunately I dont know a great deal about what point and shoot models are out now, but the big players in the game are canon, nikon, sony & panasonic, canon's point and shoots seem to take quite a nice picture.

my advice would be to goto a camera store, find the ones in your price range from each brand, then test them all out at once, eg take the same kind of photo in each one to compare the photo quality they all do, then see which one feels and looks the best to you and which ones menus look better for you.

then go home and goto www.dpreview.com and read the reviews of the models you're considering.

me personally, I'm nikon biast, so I'll always recommend them, but if I was to buy a point and shoot I'd prob either get a nikon or canon, they're just the norm when it comes to photography hehe

Well as i said steve its only really for taking pics for ebay and what not so would be stupid for me to splash alot of money on one.Don't really wanna spend more than £90-£150 thats why that sony looked like a good buy and i'd think it should be able to cope with what i ask of it.
Cheers for the imput and advice ill have another look at them lumix then decide am sure both would be ok with similiar performance as there in the same kinda price bracket and spec

The queue-y bit at the photo counter upstairs in the big boots in Leeds seems to have a bargainous compact camera every other weekend when I go to get films processed, so it might be worth having a look there if you are in Leeds.

If I finish a film tomorrow, I'll drop by and see what's there.
