pokey def check out the website I linked, their reviews are really indepth and cover almost every camera thats been produced
the main thing for stuff like ebay is to have good lighting
I said ages ago in my collection thread that I'd get around to doing a tutorial for taking photos of shoes on a budget... might have to get that happening again

Will do and thanks for your help/info steve
I sorted out the bad lighting thing ..its basically only close ups my camera struggles (like taking pics of codes/writing on tongues, smaller items)
No real rush to get one as im getting by with what i got it was mainly the fact that the sales are on everywhere right now so best time to get one and save some wedge if i'd only be buying one anyways.
It's not the size of the feet!!it's the amount of quality on em

are you switching the camera to macro mode? hehe
also better to illuminate something small with a lamp than with the camera flash

+1 for the Panasonic Lumix
Had a DMC-FZ7 for about three years ago and very happy with it.

+1 for Panasonic. I got my GF1 some months ago and it is fucking awesome.
If you want a cheap camera I could sell one of my old ones. Fujifilm FinePix S5700 does really good closeups. Let me know if you are interested.
