You know, I never realized driving was so hard. Are there some crazy manoeuvres you guys have to master before you can be licensed?

Then again, I have lost my license 4 or 5 times for too many speeding related offenses...

It's all gone a bit mental over here Z.
Hazard perception test.
Written test.
Practical test.
Gotta pass all three nowadays.
But then, UK drivers are the best in the world.

Which is why you're getting a national 50mph speed limit?

Hazard perception test? What's that?

Congrats to Reid thumbright commiserations to Mrs FC, better luck next time. Sad

The driving test in the UK seems crazy hard to pass nowadays. When I took my test in the late 80's, I drove out the test centre and was immediately queing for some roadworks about 400 yards down the road. Sat idling and crawling forward in sweltering heat for 15 minutes, got past the roadworks, examiner made me go once round the block and back into the test centre after a couple of manouvres. The whole thing only took 20 mins in total!

They show you a video and you've basically got one click of a mouse to decide when you would have to make an action such as brake or take evasive action to avoid a collision.
It's bullshit.
They told me to click when I could see a problem developing so I did on a couple cos I could see it was gonna become a problem and they reckoned I was doing it too early.
Bullshit !

Driving with a crystal ball eh Pure? Very Happy

Its all a bit silly really cos a mate of mine got failed cos, on the way back to the test centre after, he swerved to avoid a wagon and got failed for being dangerous to other road users.
Even tho it was the wagon drivers fault and was front passenger side and probably would've killed the instructor. Confused

Seems like the Hazard Perception Test is a bit like the old arcade game, Dragon's Lair.

Have to admit that I almost failed my driving test because of speeding. But that was 20 years ago or so.

Friend of mine did the same. Stopped a wreck but examiner still failed him. Of course, if they do crash into you then the test has to be stopped immediately as it obviously can't continue. In other words, you're fucked either way. An extra £60 for the DSA in 6 weeks time.

Bunch o bastards in my opinion Reid. Glad you got it over with thumbleft

That's just bad luck.

Drove all over the UK in '96 and we did end up crashing. Thankfully I wasn't driving when we had the front bumper knocked off of our Vectra in Rugby. Sawed it off with a Swiss Army knife and gave it to the kids who'd stopped to watch the action.

Exactly like that, basically you go click happy (but not too many as you can fail)

The offical DSA Theory DVD says you have to click when a "Hazard is about to occur" however according to the DVD a dog running into a road is not classed as a hazard! Confused

Mrs FC failed the hazard perception bit as she didn't click enough, then went back a week later clicked oodles more times and got 70/75.

I'm sooo glad I did mine before all these damn things came out.

fc wrote first car off after 6 weeks!
