The lace going to the outside of the foot goes over the top.

You could still make it better on the left shoe in the pic. You can see that the top two pairs are not aligned the same way as the rest. Change those around and you're good to go.

Looking at your original lacing, either by luck or by design, you went over, under, then over twice, under, then over again and exactly mirrored that on the other shoe, somehow.
You did you're own flavour of mirror over/underlap!

I didn't edit the attachments, I think he referred to the first pictures of the Beckenbauers, and their  lacing was actually intended to be over and under and back again, but I admit, it looked awful  

Now I keep it simple and I like it much more!
