How many lines should be around Superstars tongue logo?
#1

I got my first pair of Superstar II in New York from some small independent shoe shop.

It's only now I've come to look for replacements do I notice the logo on mine only has one box line printed round the logo on the tongue. There's an indentation for a second line, but it's not printed white. Looks like this:

Most that I've seen for sale on eBay and via Google image search has two lines around the logo, like this:

Have I been walking round in fakes for 2 years? Which sort of logo should Superstars have? Why is there two versions?

The quality of mine seems ok, and there's no other indicator that they're fakes (eg no heel tab, not identical serials, insole logos are opposite to each other, etc)

What does it matter if you're replacing them?

If you bought them from a shop in New York, they're likely real.

Case closed.

It matters coz I'm not sure which ones to buy as the replacement, one line or two. If one version of logo is fake, I don't really want them.

If both versions are legit I'm also curious why there are two versions of the logo yet the rest of the shoe seems identical. If that's the case it seems an oddly subtly variation.

you're in for a wild ride when you start surfing this website and see dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens variations of logos on tongues and heels and soles.

I work in New York and any store that a you could walk into in any "touristy" area is going to be selling legit shoes. Guys with tables on the street are the ones you need to watch out for.

Thanks Tifoso. Was in Sugar Hill district.

I've got the product code for them off the tongue, which is G17067. When I google that code all the shoes I see have just one keyline round the logo, like mine. So yeah, hopefully they were legit. Smile

Is there a list of those codes online anywhere, and which shoes they relate to? Are they country specific - I did wonder if I'd picked up a US variant??

Yours are fine, the code is legit as is the shoe, and it only has one line around the tongue.
They first dropped in 2010 and are still ranged today under the same code...and still only has one stripe around the tongue, however different markets (countries) might have slight variations though so it all depends on where the particular seller is sourcing their stock from. I'd still be careful on ebay though i found a pair of standard white/blacks the other day with heel nipples (which indaicates fake).

If you have £5 and Chuck Norris has £5, Chuck Norris has more money than you.

Thanks, SweetKicks.

I do wonder why, if the heel nipple is the most easiest thing to spot as a sign of a fake, why aren't the bootleggers trimming them off??
