So as my eldest is turning 5 in a few weeks I have to pick out something for him.
Looking for heads up or ideas?
I have seen the new star wars lightsaber http://www.boots.com/en/Star-Wars-Ultima...Lightsaber
and it makes all the right noises and even does that crackle thing when you hit something (OMG). I am so fucking tempted to buy two for his birthday so I can kick his little sith ass.
Anyway any other ideas peoples?

I had a very happy childhood. Stick and a hoop, ball and a cup (the ball was on a string and attached to the cup) one of those rattle things you spin round. I had all the top of the range toys.

Little known fact: IHB is 177 years old. His bike is the kind that has the giant-ass front wheel on it.

Benji, the lightsaber in the link that you sent, while awesome, isn't the best for a 5-year-old. I'm not sure that it's durable enough to bang about with no concern about breaking it.

My son has one of these and a couple of the basic ones that don't make the sounds or light up. The blade retracts and they are durable as hell.(we have battles all the time) His is actually clear and you can change the crystals (and design of the handle) to make the color of the blade red, blue, or green!!!!
