Graphics Tablet.
#1

Help needed. Been here a while now and have learnt a few of your but cant remember who, work in graphics and design. Usefully most of my mates work in care too and like me have no idea about techy stuff. Thats why am asking u guys.

So my Pappa for Xmas, has said he wouldnt mind a Graphic Tablet. He told me there about £30. So did the usual read the tech guides all about em online and did some price comparisons. Etc.. He is retired and a very keen photographer. He has a sony digital SLR and uses photoshop for edditing his pics. Hence wanting a graphic tablet. So from looking at all the info on line they price frok £1k down to £20. My thinking now is, would buying him a graphic tablet at £30 actually be any good or a useless lump or crap ?

Too small and they're pointless.
I bought an Aiptek 14000U which is pretty much A4 on Ebay and loved it so much I bought a second one for the workshop.
Cost me £74.99 with a copy of Photoshop Elements that I sold on for £20 !

*Edit.
This is the seller but he currently wants £95 for it.
Save the item and keep watching cos he gets more in and sells them cheaper.

It lasting and being good quality and the practicality are different unfortunately. An A6 one might last a decade but it just isn't practical for use. You need an A5 minimum really.

i wouldnt get anything but a Wacom.

ive got a wacom intuos3 6"x8" and that cost me around 350 aussie dollars. best investment ever made, specially for all my design work at university.

i use that size on a 20" screen and it works a treat. If you are looking for a quality product Wacom is the go!

I've got the same as Niko... best thing I've ever bought for the comp... its prob a bit too small for my current screen resolution of 3840x1200 but I only use it for illustrator and photoshop, not as a mouse so its not too bad.

theres the new intuos4's out which look pretty good, but he could prob get away with a bamboo which is a decent amount cheaper
