Bigger feet and fakes.
#1

Reading around here today and quite a few people have mentioned that fake manufacturing of larger sizes isn't desirable. Obviously because you're not gonna be able to shift a huge amount in the bigger sizes.

My question here is: As a size 13 US, how concerned should I be with fakes in general? How frequently will my size be a target for the fakers?

I've seen a few interesting pairs of late on the bay, but they are from international sellers and very succesful powersellers who generally can't be arsed to answer queries, so it's a leap of faith to buy from them.

Is there any particular series I should be careful with in my size, or are fakes at 13US really rare?

Good question. Hopefully BL will have some insight, as he's the same size as you, if I remember correctly. And Steve-O is right up there too.

I know as a US12 there are definitely fakes in my size. Whether they bother faking bigger probably depends on the shoe. There must be a lot of people in the US with US13 feet and bigger.

Cool, here's hoping someone has more info on this.

So far I've never had the misfortune of purchasing any fakes, just wandered if I'm 'lucky' or just not at risk in the same way as smaller-footed guys are.

Cheers,

I'm a US12-13 too, I've seen a few suss 12's but I cant think of a time I've come across a fake 13, mind you I dont buy anywhere near as many as BL hahaha

I do notice a lot of fake sellers tend to only go upto 11.5

I'm a US 11.5 and I've never seen any of the 35th consortiums in that size, they only go up to US 11 afaik, but other than that I think there are fakes up to at least US 12.

Don't know if this is any help really - unless you're looking for 35th consortiums of course.

More a curiosity than anything. I've never been stung before, and wonder if it's likely.

Got a few coming in that I paid practically nothing for.. and I'm gonna have to check if I've got myself some excellent deals with 'em or whether they're fakes.

It's been a very good month for me for deals on supes, so if they all come in and are genuine, I'll be delighted.

As usual?

Never heard of that site before.

Thanks for putting it up.

I checked all the ones I'm due and every single pair goes 36-44.5 in the size run.

I'm hopeful I've just got myself some great deals..

Any news on this front?

Have the fakers moved onto bigger sizes at all, or are they still avoided?

Got a number of classics coming my way, I don't think they're fakes, but you never know the dealy till you get 'em in your hands.

Doubt there is a general rule, you just have to check each pair you get.

It was fuckin' obvious that that cunt was gonnae fuck some cunt.

Yeah, B. As always, if you're unsure, post up some pics.

Especially if you got a too good to be true deal on them.

I do remember BL getting some great deals on some rare pairs, PP's for like $35 or something. Less folk going after them I guess. And while I've only seen one photo, they certainly seemed genuine.

I got a feeling they're faking some of the Jeremy Scott range upto a US12 but that prob doesnt apply to many here lol

as far as supes, I'm still yet to see a pair of us13s faked, but I can imagine some dodgy bastards have done it or will do it eventually.

if the photos supplied on a listing or website arent sufficient to your liking just ask them for more photos of particular areas like the heel and tongue stickers, thats what I always do, if they refuse to do it or give a shitty excuse then dont bother with them

Hehe,

Never hurts to stay on top of the game and know what's hot (newly faked) or whatever.

Don't want to get too complacent with my purchases, is all. I'm sure those of you with bigger feet can relate - you see something rare, in your size, and you grab it hardly thinking it's faked.
