Just another freaker....
#1

Alright people,

Just thought I'd introduce myself as the forum requested. I currently have about 25 pairs of trainers and even though I have worn trainers for near on 40 years, its only recently that I start to get a collection (Isn't expendable income great!).

Currently have a varied collection of mainly Adidas trainer, with a few pairs of Superstars thrown in - Adicolor W5's, Rock-A-Fella 35th's, and Top Secret 35th's. Other trianers of note are a pair of Mexico 66 Size 40th Anniversary Release, and Upper Playground Aesop Rock Stan Smith II's.

Almost had a pair of Neighborhood this week, but think they are fake, so bowed out of the deal. Which is why I am here as someone suggested I ask the question about them on here, but as I said, that has been sorted, or at least I think so!

Also thought about getting the Diamond Edition 60th Anniversary Superstar release, but not sure that a relatively standard pair of Superstars with a few diamonds in is much of an effort (though I guess you could say the same with the Top Secret), not sure what people on here think about it anyway.....

So, heres the question, should I wear my Top Secret's out and about or not??

Anyway, here I am, and here I will stay.
Cheers

Oh, the introduction.... I'm Dylan, and I'm a Mancunian.

Welcome to ssdb dylan Smile sounds like you got afew gemz in that varied adidas collection of yours!!look forward to seeing your collection.
On the subject of wearing the top secrets i think thats pretty much your decision to make nomatter what any1 says on here m8.I'm guessing you probably paid a pretty penny for them and they are something very special and pretty much irreplaceable and more a show shoe than an actual superstar you can wear (hense the sole not being made of something that could stand upto day to day grime on the street)
For me personally i can only see me wearing mine for my wedding day or some event that mean't alot to me!!Some will say what a waste you should wear them they are only trainers and your robbing someone else of the opportunity to rock them, others will disagree and says they deserve alittle more respect and should be kept as a show peice all perfect.
But at the end of the day m8 you paid for them its your decision

^^pokeys long winded answer for No i bloody wouldn't wear em Laughing

It's not the size of the feet!!it's the amount of quality on em

Long winded is fine by me, and I am sure I will get the short winded and abusive reply from someone at some point in the future....

Actually, the fortunate thing is they are UK8 and I am a UK9, so crippling me aside, Buying trainers that don't fit means that I won't wear them anyway! Good tip if you want a pristine collection of trainers that will never be worn. Might just slip them force them on for a picture though...

To be fair, I have put my Mexico's on 3 times to go out, and quickly put them back in their nice big plastic box EXTREMELY quickly on each occasion. But at least I am wearing the Rock-A-Fells'a and Aesop Rock's.

Am actually a bit gutted about the SS Neighborhood's, because I WAS going to wear them. Oh well, maybe a real pair will surface again soon.... Confused

Another manc on board good stuff.

To answer your questions, the diamond 60th anniversary are a waste of money and really nothing special, at all. Don't bother.

Whether you wear your top secrets or not is up to you, normally we'd all say to wear your kicks but the top secrets are a different story really. However buying kicks that don't fit you is frowned upon - You might never wear them but there could be a size 8 out there who would wear them and is desperate for a pair and unable to get hold of em.

Wishing it was like the old days again

Ah, a fellow Mancunian, sound....

It's a good point, but surely it would be no different if I bought a pair my size and still didn't wear them? Wouldn't that be no different from buying a pair that didn't fit me, as it still deprives someone. Just a thought....

Anyway, I should get myself off the introduction site and into the main event for a bit of banter. First topic will be many questions about my Top Secrets.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and thanks to someone who know who Mr McCulloch actually is!!!! Smile.... well done flyingcod.... that reminds me, fish n chips night.... Razz

Welcome Wink

Personally I don't think I'd ever buy a pair of shoes that I wouldn't wear, unless I was loaded. And if I was loaded, I wouldn't care anyway and I would wear them, because I could always buy another pair Cool As for the size, even if they are display shoes, it is sorta like having a national championship trophy for another team, when your team won. Still cool, but not special...you know? I would rather have a pair in my size even if I knew I wasn't going to wear them.

I am sure you will like it here, nice intro.
