Congrats, Olskool!

@ Vortec: I am assuming they would put different color cords around their necks depending on what honors are being bestowed on the graduate. Almost like medals. I think this is a fairly recent practice as it wasn't around when I was growing up.(at least in my area)

Tif is correct. It's a fancy/ornate "rope" basically that drapes over/around the neck and lays on top of the gown on both sides of the chest. Kind of fancily braided with a decorative knot on both ends.

well here, easier to just post a pic Wink

and no, no Supes were worn for this event. too special. Stacy Adams

hey all, thanks for the kudos for my daughter Smile
i appreciate the kind words.
guess i've got to gloat a bit and show a pic or two or three from vacation

swimming with sea turtles, not in some touristy "pay to swim" area, this was in the actual ocean and freestyle snorkeling, an amazing experience, these turtles came right up to us out of curiousity then dove below the surface, they are a protected species, so you aren't allowed to touch them or follow them or try to coerce their travel/movement, you just float there and hope that they come your way!!! we got lucky Smile this is a lucky pic with my camera held above the surface of the water while i was treading with fins/snorkel/mask

a sunrise at the summit of the 10,000ft Haleakala Volcano (dormant), and believe it or not, it was 38 degrees Fahrenheit up at the summit (sorry for you Celsius countries) versus the 85 at the beach

black sand beach with black lava cliffs at Keawaiki Bay
you can't walk too long barefoot at this beach, the sand and pebbles get very warm, the green fauna is amazingly lush and vibrant up against the hardened black lava cliffs
