You didn't put any quotes in Dregz so it doesn't really work mate.

Think of words ending in "-gry". "Angry" and "hungry" are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.

Answer: "What"

The answer, if he'd put it in quotes or said it to us in person would be language.
But he didn't.
So it's not.

nice Mr Pure..
...or if he'd said it verbally ... "agree" , "pedigree" etc etc, although that doesn't really work with the "only three words" part.
How did you mean it Dregz? I'm guessing Pure's answer is what you were after?

"If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."

"What is the third word?"

True enough Steve-O...
Though I think it would work better verbally.
Christ - I just looked at -gry puzzle on wikipedia - don't do it...
In the light of that I'll change my answer to "onions".

If he was telling us that "what" is the third word then he he'd have to have been making a statement.
"What is the third word !"
But he wasn't.
As it was, he asked a question so the whole thing doesn't work.

Nice one pure, you were on point with that one. thumbright Although to be fair I've posted the riddle exactly as it was sent to me, without quotes.
When i finally found the answer the 3 words "the English language" were in quotation marks making the answer, as Pure said, 'Language'.
Apparently there are 8 or so variations and answers to this one. Depending how you phrase it Steve-o and GeeBee's answers work too.

I was told by the person that sent it to me that it's too easy to work out if the quotations marks are in the original question
and if i was any good then i should have been able to figure it out anyway.
To back up your point though Pure, when i found the answer I did feel a little robbed that they were left out.

Well done bones, and good luck for tomorrow Das.

I like that title too Das. Might have to throw a few more riddles your way.

Would you be good enough to participate in this morning's edification?
