you can make a nice precise smooth line path to make selections, insteat of the jittery path you tend to get with the lasso or wand etc

I think the pen-tool is the most difficult thing about Photoshop

Aaaaah, see, I use the lasso with a button down (?) so I can string it exactly where I want it.
Always worked fine for me.
Will have to give that there pen a go though, I guess.

Never use the pen tool, always use the lasso tool and zooming in 300% or more. xD

Had a little dig around.
Popular concensus seems to be that the lasso, in it's many forms, is the way to go, possibly with some pen action if you've got hair to worry about, which I don't.
If I ever do though, now I've got some double hard bastard algorithms to grab the hair for me !
