Nah, Ben, that's what the social media is for, innit? Can't all be about what you had for breakfast or links to crappy R&B videos (Pojey...).

Retweeted the Sneaker Freaker tweet this morning.

There has been some talk on the custom auction post on the TroRecs Fan page on Facebook. Obviously shoes divide opinion and that is cool, it fuels this place doesn't it? But now there are a couple comments about the use of child labour and sportswear brands. I must admit that although I am aware of this sort of thing, I haven't really investigated it at length and I am unsure whether a boycott on those factories would do good... ? What are you thoughts boys and girls?

Well, it would be quite unfair to say that all countries that produce sportswear use child labour, wouldn't it? This is only my opinion but there would be a lot of boycotting if we were to apply it to every company that uses these countries. Does this help the countries concerned or should we instead maybe get them to improve work safety on a greater scale? (this might of course mean production would be more costly and deter companies from using them in the first place?)

Let us instead see it as giving back to the ones who might have been involved in child labour in the first place. At least you are doing something actively to contribute to the cause, even if it it's just raising the question. I doubt a lot of the people voicing their concerns on facebook have actually done anything themselves to improve conditions for whoever they are talking about? That said, I haven't read the discussion and I am, like you, not at all familiar with the subject Wink

Channel 4 did an investigation years ago and found both noike and Adidas indirectly used child labour.
Adidas subsequently got involved with the program and took on board the suggestions for eradicating the problem as best as it could.
Noike on the other hand, refused to comment and subsequently did fuck all!
