A Church burnt down? Shiiit, hope no one was hurt. Someone burnt a church down near my house a few years ago, I was amazed at just how much damage was done. No one was hurt though, it happened late at night. A lot of reeeally old books and shit were destroyed though.

Having a lie in ahead of Toronto FC this afternoon. Starting to come to life as my football idol, Freddie Ljungberg, plays for the opposition. Hopefully he leads them on a 5-nil crushing of us and our GM gets sacked.

Heading to the Adidas Outlet after work. Not a lot of hope, but who knows.

Didn't take the new job - got the opportunity to completely redefine my role at the old place, so I'm staying.

Been celebrating.

sounds good Z, tell them you want more money too haha

Sounds like you made the right decision. Make the most of your opportunity.

And like Steve said, redefine your role with a bump in pay. Wink

Money couldn't enter into this discussion. I needed a clear mind and any money talk would've messed things up.

You guys are probably aware of the hours I work, but it's always for a purpose - the job I got offered is something I didn't have much right to even apply for, but my reputation in the industry is 'I'm that guy'. You need something done, I get it done.

So, turning it down was pretty hard. But, how often do your employers say, 'we know we need you. define your role and that's what it is.

Being able to create your own job is way more exciting than money.

Well done Z, good choice, money isn't everything. I have a very unsatisfying job in a deeply unethical industry that pays well. I also have an unpaid voluntary position working for an organisation that aims to my make my 'hood a better place to live. Guess which one makes me happier.

Word. Don't get me wrong - I know what a luxury it is to be able to say, 'money isn't important'. Obviously it is, but at the same time, I didn't bust my guts for the past 10 years for the chance to earn extra money every year with that being the be all and end all.

At the end of the day, more than pay, I want the opportunity to kick ass. The opportunity to take charge. The opportunity to make real change.

Life is fucking long. You might as well have as much fun and push yourself as hard as you can along the way.

Anyone can be average. Who wants to be that.?

Well said lorrie and also sounds like you made the right decision to stay with your current employer.
Always nice to be appreciated and you certainly do put in some hours......A job for life and a seat on the board of directors awaits.

It's not the size of the feet!!it's the amount of quality on em

Amen to that Lorrie, we all spend more time than we probably should at work, so having a position of trust and value becomes all the more important than the monetary recompense.

Respect to your decision to stay.

Hark the SSDB, what a bunch of philosophical intelects we are. Smile
