Do you think adidas are worried that their core superstar buying market is getting a bit long in the tooth, which is why they're going after a more youthful crowd? But, hang on . . . Pharell and Beckham are both 40, or as good as, so can it be the youth they're after?

Trying to turn the supe into the "must have fashion shoe" of the season is a mug's game adidas. Short term gain, long term loss.
