are these 35th RUN DMC's fake?
#11

...like the shoes i bought off ebay  Run-DMCs are amongst the shoes targeted the most (out of the 35th Music series Superstars) for replication by the scam-factories of the third world.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...9309021069

Please bear with me - I'm new, I have a lot to say and I've spent a lot of my time on this and not much else (I might need a life?)...

1) The seller has no buyer feedback whatsoever.
2) They haven't stated they are real.

These are just commonsense rules of eBay.

3) They look just like the fake ones i've bought.

Also, the shoes have a "squashed" look (maybe from having been mass-shipped?), a thing which quality Superstar material isn't well known for (correct me if I'm wrong). The seller hasn't really taken care of these kicks (why have they taken the laces out of the packets?), another indication something is off.

The seller I bought from made his ebay feedback private the second he received a negative from another buyer (he had built up 100% positive feedback thru smaller sales and real non-rare shoes). I'd been able to read the comment just before it disappeared - It had stated that the rare Captain Tsubasa's they'd purchased were fake.

When the shoes arrived, I compared them to the previous two 35ths I had purchased (Roc-A-Fella and Etched Black) and the difference in the quality of material was evident. I had PayPal refund the full amount, which the seller cheerfully obliged with little protest (just an e-mail asking why I was unhappy, to which a flamed him for selling fakes - I didn't hear from him again). The fact of the matter was the manufacturers had faked everything (the box images had been photocopied, the tags looked real - maybe taken from real kicks?) right down to the "tissue paper" inlay, which looked real except when placed next to a real inlay.

Before my complaint and the negative feedback, he stated all his kicks from 100% authentic. This is conspicuously missing from all his new listings (almost all buy it now).

Sorry for the long post - I am typing all this shiat in the hope that someone doesn't make the same mistake I did and almost lose 140 GBP in a single transaction. I'll post some of my own pics when I can borrow my sister's digital camera. Until then, keep frosty people. Dre out.

Yeah, I must admit some of the fakes are getting harder to spot. The first DMC fakes that appeared on eBay were soooo easy to spot, metal eyelets, 'my adidas' instead of JMJ etc. etc., but the DMCs in this auction actually look pretty good except for the fat laces and the missing tags.

yeah I did get to keep the the so-called 'Superstars' and some of the box. I kinda hurriedly (without thinking, really) threw away the fake tags and inlay (although like I said, they look identical to the real thing so they might actually be).

I actually might have been fooled from up close (Obviously the listing's shots were able to con me Embarassed ) except the flaws are so evident when placed next to a real pair...

Hopefully I can do the shots this afternoon, although I have been busy with my mid-semester tests/assignments. Then again, screw my tertiary education! Shelltoes are more important! Twisted Evil

urm, i'm not a great photographer at all

The shoes on the left are the *cough* Run-DMC shelltoes, the ones on the right are my funky fresh Roc-A-Fellas (with 35th Anniversary phat laces), both size 10 (buyers, please e-mail for prices  )

The Run-DMC, at first glance, feels so real that you almost want it to be (I suppose that's how some people are fooled) but looking at the details and comparing it to both a real superstar 1 and photos of a real 'DMC, you just know.

Notice the difference in the cushion part of the upper heel (where the trefoil is). You can just see quality of the finish on a real 35th. I guess I am privileged cos I can feel the texture and evaluate that aspect of the shoes as well.

The stitching on the black stripes is appalling, and looks like it's been fashioned from a plastic bag. Again, so sorry for the poor quality of the pics.

I think the only way you can really nFor those who remain unconvinced, feel free to buy from the same buyer I did on eBay! Actually, don't - the whole reason i'm doing this is to STOP it from happening to someone else...

yeah, the only main difference i can tell between them is how far apart the stitching is..

on this one, if you look down the heel tab thing, the stiching is a lot more spaced out on the fake..

i guess we'll have to keep our eyes open for that in future!
