Looking for 35th Ann. Shoes
#16

Livestock in Gastown on Abbott street should be your first stop. Next would be Gravity & Pope on W4th. Then there's the shop on the south side of W4th, a few blocks down the hill to the east that I can't remember the name of (it's some guy's name, right on the corner...)

after that, there are a number of little shops in Yaletown and Gastown that I don't know the names of, but you should probably check out.

Knowing what I know now, if I was starting my collection and unsure of what to buy, I'd probably start with a pair of white SS1's or white vins and go from there. UP's are fantastic and they were my first pair, but it's a bit like trying to hit a homerun without warming up first. You don't want to end up with fakes and you don't want to spend $250 on a pair of kicks you aren't sure are going to properly fit you.

If you aren't in the city, take skytrain into town, start at gastown, up to yaletown and then walk over to Kits.

Right. well, when you went to livestock did you at least get yourself a pair of the force pack that dropped there today?

what exactly motivated you to start collecting? how did you hear about the Upper Playgrounds you're interested in?

Ummm no i didnt, i just didnt like the styles.

I was motivated buy buying these toysr2. They looked so nice, however i had doubts that it was real so i returned them. This made me start taking notice of how nicely adidas superstars looked.

I started out by searching adicolor on amazon.com, then 35th Ann poped out so i decided to check these series out. Then by find out this site i found a bunch of styles of these 35th Ann. The one that caught my attention immediately was the Upper Playgrounds.

Thanks for your posts.

The 35th series was released 3yrs ago to celebrate adidas's 35th anniversairy. So finding these models new is hard as their already 3yrs old. Also every superstar from the series as been faked to a large degree as u will see if u look on ebay.If i was you m8 id look @ other superstars theres tonnes of pictures on this site, find 1 you like and go with it!!being a collector is not always easy but it makes getting the pair you've been after that much sweeter when you finally get them Very Happy goodluck

It's not the size of the feet!!it's the amount of quality on em

NO!!! you didn't get the force pack while you were there?? Sad

anyway... there's couple nice sites where you can find 35ths still, but if your budget is $150, it might be tough...

if you want a real toy2r for good price, go to harputs.com ($75). as for the 35ths, try pickyourshoes.com or sportiela.com

Okay, I admit that I was offside when I made fun of the fella for starting a poll as to which should be his first soop. Especially the part where I suggested he should just be happy with whatever his parents get him.

My bad, I'm sorry.

Trulimes, if you're out there, buying soops is more than just what other people think about them, it's what you think about them. and if you have 4 pairs that you can't decide between, then pick one and buy the rest when you have more money. that's part of the fun of collecting: you know if you get one pair you might lose out on the other, so you just have to find it again.

there are people on this forum who have been looking for that one pair for 3 years!

so please accept my apology and good luck on pulling the trigger on your first pair.

Cool.

Well, Can I assume you've been reading what people have had to say, then? You now know that the 35th anniversary stuff was out 3 years ago and consequently very difficult to find in stores.

The sites we've suggested are good because they sell legit shoes - no point in buying a 'deal' on the internet and have it turn out to be a fake.

I can almost guarantee you are not going to get Upper Playgrounds for your $150.00 budget. My suggestion would be to buy any of the pairs you listed in your poll (Boston, Londons, R5) and then as you get more money, acquire the rest of them.

My other suggestion, considering your age and that even if you have a part time job you probably don't make a ton of cash, would be to start collecting more basic pairs. a solid pair of superstar 1's, white with black stripes or black with white stripes, shouldn't run you more than $100 (they're not that hard to find on sale, too) and those will always be well respected by sneaker heads. Especially if you keep them clean (you have to keep them clean). You can build up a great collection for $100 or less a pair, especially if you make the odd trip down to Bellingham or Seattle or even Winners. And customize them with fat laces or lace jewelry.

If you let us know your size we can also keep a look out for bargains and keep you in the loop.
