The word "Colourway"
#1

Yo dudes!

As we all love the word COLOURWAY, i was wondering, where did the word COLOURWAY come from?

Did the americans invent the word COLOURWAY?

Or was it some kind of bad translation, that gave us the word COLOURWAY?

Discuss!

(the intention of this thread is not to poke at mr P's hatred of the word COLOURWAY.... honest!) Laughing

Colourscheme is a recognised word from yonks ago, colourway is either some stupid americanised word or a bad Japanese translation.
Either way, it sucks a fat one !

couldn't take it anymore.

http://www.reference.com says:

In visual arts, colorway or colourway is the scheme of two or more colors in which a design is available. It is often used to describe variegated or ombre (shades of one color) print yarns, fabric, or thread. It can also be applied to apparel, to wallpaper and other interior design motifs, and to specifications for printed materials such as magazines or newspapers.

I did wonder if saturdays conversation would come up here (brave man for starting that one Ols!)
I think it must be an americanism, because whenever i've seen it written, it's always been "color" rather than the proper spelling colour!

Confused

Sorry, mind wandered a bit there. Flicking through the TV and just stopped on the God Channel (channel 279 for those of you on Virgin Media) Jesus Christ (no pun intended!) What a load of sanctamonious, right-wing propagander! Seriously, it's funny as hell!
Guy on at the moment is wearing a dark grey suit with a bright yellow tie, which would be an interesting colorway for a shoe LaughingLaughing
