** Design Competition - SSDB Logo/Teshirt! **

I think it looks banging as the first tshirt but maybe not ideal as the logo.
(Says a jeweller worrying about all the work involved making the next set of lace tags !)

i love the lettering. but.
i do feel we need a proper logo (badge) an old school hip hop character like a bode or rock steady crew. b-boy.

olstar Wrote:ive been thinking about this logo, and im just worried that the SSDB isnt clear to people that dont know what it says..

any chance you could make the letters more clear??

I had thought that too, I have changed it a little bit, defined the D a little with more of an upright stroke

MrShoeShotta Wrote:That was my only concern with it.....not sure the best way around it - could maybe put 'SSDB: home of the adidas superstar' under it. Or does it really matter?

MrShoeShotta makes a good point here. As far as logo text goes, I'm of the train of thought that it doesn't have to be 100% readable. The reasoning behind this is that if someone sees you wearing this tee - you're there to ask. If they see the logo on the net then they might investigate further. Also, even if someone who had no idea read 'SSDB' they probably wouldn't be any wiser anyway...

stylz Wrote:Maybe four separate laces for each letter in a more graf inspired yet easy to read style?

IMO that would start becoming too fussy and busy, it's not how I work, my aesthetic is quite clean and simple. I think four different laces would also lose some impact - at the moment the one lace is just about the right proportions for a phat lace, but once you take it back to four shorter laces, the lettering would have to be less bold, or the laces would look well and truely, unproportionally tubby.

dj_wildthing Wrote:I was just thinking how this would look on a colored t-shirt (blue, red, black, whatever) - I'm guessing the shell still needs to be white/cream, or would it work if the graphics were just inverted? Still a kick-ass logo!

Firstly, I would just like to point out that I generally dislike red. I just don't really like it.

Now... I have done some different colour combinations (note: Pure, I didn't say colourways Laughing)

I actually like the two colour options better than one colour, and I don't tthink that the shell needs 'highlighting', the negative space in the design does that enough IMO

^ the more I look at the khaki/brown one, the more I like it - I initially picked the brown randomnly

Or thereabouts !
I'd have made the background a seperate colour but it would've meant a lot of fucking around, not having it in layers.
Hope you don't mind me playing with it Deftoned.

^ I don't mind at all Mr.P, they look nice, although I would keep the outsole dark on the bottom pair - it grounds the image a little better...
