I usually check the weather, and I've got a coupla pairs I won't wear if there's a chance of crap, but I have, on two occasions, grabbed a couple of plastic bags from work to cover my shoes to walk out to the car with after an unexpected weather change

I've actually done that before! Should have put it in the poll!

Rubber bands at the top of two carrier bags - job's a good un.

Makes you look like a tramp that's gone renegade, mind.
