My trusty kicks
#6

I just restored these over spring break and I think they turned out quite well. I started by cleaning them and oiling the leather very thoroughly. I then got some shoe glue and cut an insert out of fabric to patch a hole (it was right where the leather meets the rubber on the right side of the right shoe) and pasted it underneath the pad to all the way up where the laces start. It worked very well! After that, I spray painted them (yes, sounds crazy I know). I got some flat white spray paint, and it was cheap so the pigment was very mild. I figured this would help it soak in better. I masked off all of the parts of the shoe that I didn't want painted, such as the stripes and the rubber. This turned out very well, the spots that were worn can't be seen anymore.

After they were done drying (several coats) I oiled them heavily again, and let them dry for about 24 hours. I wiped off the excess oil and viola! They are wearable again. They still have some obvious wear wrinkles that can't be taken out. They even smell new again! I was surprised how well they turned out, I would say about 85% new.
