I'm in Zurich in Switzerland and they are the worst for hammering folks like me for customs charges.
These sailed through without even a standard "open the package" check!
Funny story on the customs thing.
Ok, some of you may have realized that I buy a LOT of stuff, we are talking somewhere between 4-5 packages a day coming in from all over the world, tad excessive I know but we all got our faults right?
Customs here know me well and sometimes like to hold up my packages and instead send me a postcard asking me to fax back the receipt so they can calculate the charge, generally happens when the sender tries to do me a favour, example is Maharishi trousers. I buy circa 2 pairs a month of the older releases from a geezer in Germany who always marks them something like "used trousers, no real value, 70 Euros". These babies cost me circa 200-300 quid a pair and the real value is way more, something like 400-500 quid.
I had the bright idea to take the Ebay invoice, paste it into Outlook and change it down from say 300 quid to 50 quid and fax them this. Worked fine, I always followed up with a call to check they got the fax and they always sent the item on immediately.
Now the funny part.
Call up a week ago after the usual request and the guy says to me "you are at it sunshine" (this in Swiss German). I'm like "nah mate, it's all good".
He's only gone and started checking fuckin Ebay and monitoring my account to see how much I pay for shit then printing it out and keeping a copy!
The fellas think it's funny as hell, me being the only guy in the world who has customs monitoring his Ebay account and keeping printouts to hand!
Swiss efficiency at it's finest.......
