I'm not sure if the climate change is a real thing or is it just some sort of variation that might happen over decades, centuries or even millennia. Actually I don't really care which it is. More important IMO is that there are 7 billion people on planet Earth and more and more of them want to have equal rights and level of living.
The fact is that our current technologies, agricultural ways and such cannot possibly provide the same level of living for everyone.
This obviously is very sad and creates a dilemma. Western people - well most of us - have used for our lifestyle which lets us do pretty much anything we can afford money wise. And like always it is almost impossible to give up benefits we've already "gained".
So the question is, should we try to limit benefits of western people to match them to which standard Indian or Chinese people can afford or would it be ok for anyone to do what ever they can afford? I think there are other options too but I think this is where it really boils down to.
I know this sounds a bit treehuggerish and I really don't want to sound like a politician either as I ain't one and never will be. This is just a man thinking what's our future going to look like.
In California gallon of gas is $2,55/gallon, in Finland €1,359/litre. Translated to USD it is $5,83/gallon. I'm planning to have a very eco friendly car but since gasoline prices in US have gone down, people have been buying more big V8 cars than in years. Still this is small potatoes compared to for example China where people are buying almost half of all the cars produced this year. And most of those cars are not hybrids. Not even close.
Sorry for the rant
