I have used straight acetone for years and never had this happen before. I think maybe they were just deteriorating due to age and the acetone was the proverbial straw. If I could get the rest off then I might be able to salvage them. Only a large chunk came away from the middle, but not evenly. Will take a look at them again and see it they can be saved. If I can at least get the whole tab down to the base layer, then the problem will be solved.
