I disagree mate. The koi PM leather is thinner (standard pro model II), the nubuck base of the DB provides the best key for the paint. Some vin PMs are quality leather too. Really you have to know what the shoe is made of, especially on older models (not always still tagged and with OG box). You can strip it and find that it is synthetic leather which means that the paint really won't bond well to the surface and may separate, especially after a few wears. The tags and the box should tell you what they are made of.
Shoes like the Eldridge are made of quality thick leather, you can take that paint off down to what is almost nubuck. Then you get a good fix on that surface, to build paint up on.
I love my adidas shells but adidas don't half use some cak materials sometimes. Some leather is like reformed chicken LOL.
