I wouldn't worry Sab, it confuses many people.
I have lost count of how many people have commented that my dog is either a) illegal and b) a pitbull, or c) a yorkshire/staffordshire/cheshire/ terrier.
In the UK you have:
(English) Bull Terrier
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
In the US you have:
American Pit Bull Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier
But in the UK a "pit bull terrier" which is not a breed as such but a "type" of dog that is also banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. This can include Boxers, Huskys, Bulldogs, Dobermans,Rotties, etc
