I don't own a credit card nor do I dominate the postie thread. In fact I spend most of my time on this thread throwing out my findings to y'all and trying to contribute as well as learn. Other than that I announce my props to and admiration of peeps' collections. I do this because I understand and I respect the passion you all show for supes for one reason only: I share a similar passion, whether or not I've been posting about it online for as long as you have.
The bottom line here wasn't about deeper pockets but that I responded first. Who's to say I've not had supes (or adi's in general for that matter) on my feet all my life too? How does being on the forum longer justify the depth of my interest and participation in the subject matter?
In fact, for me, the shell toe is a symbol of dance (particularly break dance, but hip hop dance in general) and I bring my passion to life every single time I put on a pair in a different way then I've heard expressed here before. And since the supe to me is the one and only iconic representation of one of the four elements of hip hop I would say I have quite a valid and deep connection to the/a culture behind the shoe. It ain't a fad, a hype, a trend, or something cool for me either. It's a sport, a passion, and a lifestyle that I've been living since I was a little kid, and one that not only makes me spend my cash but sweat while I move to express myself. Which is exactly why I want those Phillies, because they allow me to express myself. And I would say I have a solid argument that supes are a part of my background and who I am too.
I definitely think it's understandable getting upset wanting a pair for years vs. months. And I feel for that, but not when it comes from collectors who got 100's of supes and I only got like a dozen or so. Lastly, that sucka comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular so I hope no one takes offence at that, I'm just stating the rules of market economics as we all know them to be. Frequently it's first come, first serve, and highest bidder wins the auction. Which is all that happened here, no marks jumpin' in and vanishing, just another forum member making a purchase... of course until Nikos had to go and stir the pot!
Errol makes me laugh hella hard, and KT I guess I ain't been around long enough to know what 'Jodanesque' is supposed to mean...
