I think the idea was to apply it to the sides of the sole with a brush or air brush.
Checked out some other forums and it seems there is no solution to this sole issue, most people seem to use marker pens for the sole. I'll give up I think.

I know I sound a bit too enthusiastic about wanting to nail this customising lark, but it is addictive and the results are much more unique than mi adidas or nike id made shoes (even if they are not perfect!). Plus it feels like 'Hip Hop', like back in the day, representing yourself, your skills and creativity...it is lo-cost and inspired like nicking your mums kitchen lino and a sharp cassette deck and breaking in your anorak.
Old and nostalgic.
