That's nothing really. Just over the last few days the temp has gone beyond -30C in Lapland in the northern part of Finland. It used to be that cold here in the south too but haven't experienced such temps in years. The most I've witnessed myself while being in Lapland many winters ago, was -44C.
Overall having temps that low doesn't affect the everyday life here that much, we're used to it. Only trains and undergrounds/subways are occasionally affected, thanks to their brakes getting frozen and for people who have forgotten to put a timer for the heater in their car so getting the car started might be a bit trickier when below -30C.
Doing nothing is very hard to do... you never know when you're finished.
