Dirt 2 is designed to appeal to the american market where rallying is only just taking off and it's been portrayed as an extreme sport (ex-skateboarders and shit are half the stars). Thus the rock music and all the other shit that goes along with the new Dirt game. Half the fans stateside probably don't even know what the WRC is.
American market is much bigger than the European though and so the series is likely to stay this way until the sport dies down over there. Sucks but there it is.
