Considering the unthinkable...
#1

Under what circumstances would you consider selling off your collection? I always told myself its something Id never do but my current situation has got me thinking otherwise. The start of the fall semester has left me in a financial bind, classes and books cleaned out my savings. My current living arrangement has all but destroyed my patience, I hate the people i live with and the lack of privacy is a pain. I really need to move into a place of my own but raising the cash to cover moving would take sometime and I feel like im already at my wits end. Its affecting the people closest to me in negative ways and causing problems in my current relationship. Normaly I wouldnt be so strapped for cash but I recently quit my job to help my dad startup a new business and as some of you might know, the money doesnt start flowing right away. It will take some time to see any money that I can actually live off of. Ive applied for a student loan (something else I said id never do!) but if I get awarded anything I wouldnt recieve it for a month and a half. Its all of those reasons that has me concidering the unthinkable. I really really really dont want to sell of my prized possesions, I know there are more than a few pairs I would never see again but I know that the revenue I could make off of them could get me throught this rough patch. I apologize if this sounds like pissing and moaning but I value the opinions of alot of you guys and figure some of you might have been thru this sort of thing before and could offer a wise word or two. Selling would be painful but would it be worth it?

From the south to yo mouth!!

It's all about priorities... I had to sell some of mine recently to raise funds, didn't think twice about it. Had a pair of EQT's that I knew people wanted.. So sold em to get some cash to pay an unexpected bill. I know I probably won't get another pair.. but at least I can say I had a pair. Same goes for the Yoda's I sold..

Roommates do suck...I finally got a studio of my own and I love it. That being said, I can understand you wanting to sell your collection to get out of your situation.

Maybe try to sell your more common ones and then eat cheaper meals would help...although I guess common ones don't bring in as much cash. Selling soops is hard for me to think of...because I usually have a specific reason for buying them. The certain pair strikes me a certain way, you know?

I would try not to sell my collection if I were you. But eating and living a stress free life without bullshit roommates weighs pretty heavy. Is there any way you can manage for another quarter/semester with your living situation?

It's difficult, I was strapped recently and sold a few pairs I could definitely live without.
Selling my FPs for example would be a serious last resort I'd only go to if the whole, tights on my head, caper didn't work.
And don't think of it like you'll never get another pair if you sell 'em, believe me, they all come around again !

As the others here have said - it's all about priorities. If thigs got tight for me ad I needed the moey then I'd be selling my kicks fore sure. They hold their price pretty well compared to other "luxuries" (electroics, etc...) and at the end of the day I can live with a downsized collection. I'd just sell the ones that you don't have much of a connection too and/or know you can get back easily (for example, 35th cities/anniversary series' are pretty common finds on the bay).

Anyways, unless you've got some d-mops, you'll always get a chance to buy them again someday Razz

Get a loan! Whatever you sell them for will be less than they're worth to you Smile

Tough break mate but quality of life is pretty important, i'd rather have some pairs I love than
heaps and be miserable about my situation..... but I could be biased because subconsciously I
want some of your kicks... probably best not to listen to me- keep them all and sell body parts
on the black market instead (obviously not your feet though) thumbright
