Help a noob out guys please. As far as I know there is -
Superstar 1
Superstar 2
Superstar 80s
Superstar Vintage
Are the general differences between these, this -
The 1s have a thin tongue and the criss-cross shell
The 2s have a padded tongue and criss-cross shell
The 80s have a thin tongue, slimmer silhouette, cream soul and shell and the shell isnt criss-cross
The vins have a thin tongue, slimmer silhouette, cream soul and shell, the shell isnt criss-cross and small heel with no adidas sign
Also, how does the fit generally differ between each model?
cheers guys

Yep, them's the basics. Have a look at shellpros.net under the models tab for more. Then there's things like LTOs, skates and all that carry on.
I find that 80s fit bigger and are less comfortable than other models, but that's just one opinion.

I wouldn't say that 80s have cream shell and thin tongue in general. Maybe the original models from the 80s but there are newer models with padded tongue (the green and yellow 80s) and coloured shell (the blue ones and those new ones on CT). Same for Vins. There are pairs with black sole and shell.
Vins have 8 lace holes (the original ones maybe had more) while the other models only have 7 lace holes and the distance between the stripes is different to the other models.
Then there are these tiny holes between the stripes. The number of them differs too from model to model. And Vins have the "Adidas Superstar" stamp on the side.

Cream Soul is a great name for a band in a cocktail lounge.

Thanks. I wondered what the differences were exactly.
Much appreciated.

There's 18 different types of Shell based trainers.
Maybe more.
Don't forget the truly awesome Superstar Extra Super or the Super-Modified.

Good point Mr S, In that case, there's about 25 different types.
PT's?
FTR's?

The Def Jams are Pt's (rubber line over the soles) and FTR's are the ones with the contrasting stitching, me thinks?

If you're right, I wouldn't say contrast stitching represents enough of a material change to warrant being called a different variety, nor the Def Jams.
