I was highly disappointed with The Expendables as well. It tried way too hard to be a good "retro" action movie but it really wasn't until the last few moments. When talking about somewhat recent action movies, I enjoyed Taken and Predators much more and Predators wasn't too great either, especially for having too many inconsistencies with the previous Predator movies.
Doing nothing is very hard to do... you never know when you're finished.

Expendables did exactly what it said on the tin as far as I'm concerned.
Scott Pilgrim was excellent I thought, and I seen The Town earlier in the week. Thought it was excellent, really reminded me of Heat in places. Ben Affleck used to really annoy me, but he was very good in this, as was his direction. Pete Postlethwaite was impressive as a right nasty cunt too.

Expendables was about a 5/10 for me. Not bad, but nothing to right home about.
Watched a few films recently.
Predators was average. Not a patch on the original as far as i'm concerned. You could see they tried to recreate certain aspects of the original movie. Also didn't like the fact that there was no explanation as to how the people got there or who sent them.
Machete was phuckin awe-some! Basically, if you liked Death Proof and Planet Terror then you'll love this film. Danny Trejo is the hardest looking muthafucker in the world, no competition! Great action, cheesy grind-house style and superb lowriders at the end.

Well Death Proof & Planet Terror were marvellous, add to that a bit of Alba flesh and i'm sure i'm going to love it.
