Customs charges/Fedex advice needed
#1

As far as i am aware, customs taxes are paid on items over the value of £36 when importing to the UK, but does that include the postage fee's?

I bought a pair last month from the US which i paid $39.99 for, well under the limit. The postage was $34.99 which i didn't think was included in the tax value. However today i received a bill for £15 from Fedex based on the total of $74.98. Sad

Yes mate.
And I think you'll find it's a totally ungenerous £18 !
Fedex are fucking wankers, they charge £11 ?!? as an admin fee !
I mean, what the fuck ?
You're paid to deliver the parcels, you want payment for actually handing them over as well.
I'd have to say to you, fuck 'em, don't pay it !

Cheers mr pure,

I'd have thought shipping was a service, who'd have thought it adds to the value of your kicks.

I'll hold out and see how long it takes until I'm threatened by the bailiffs.

For the sake of £15 is it really worth the hassle?? but deffo make em wait and see what happens for sure i may just have been unlucky

It's not the size of the feet!!it's the amount of quality on em

Another letter today to say they are preparing County Court legal proceedings.

Court fee's and solicitors costs will be added to the bill, credit rating affected, seizure of assets by bailiffs etc etc.

For the sake of £15 i think I'm going to wimp out and cough up, saves any further hassle and any future delivery problems. Sad

Just got a letter like that over £11. been well over 90 days I think - got a letter saying how the guys I shipped it to had a stipulation that I had to pay the money. Any help guys?

(I know it sounds kinda petty but monies tight and £12 is nearly 4 hours training and atm it's what I fucking live for)

I wouldn't pay it.
I've had some properly angry letters from DHL saying solicitors, collection agencies, credit reference agencies would be called.
So far I've ignored it and they've done fuck all.
Starting to wish I never paid any of the earlier ones either.

I wouldn't pay it - a county court would laugh at the case as it's only over a £15 charge

Wishing it was like the old days again

Yeh, I got an angry letter from DHL a month ago saying they would go to solicitors within 7 days, I dashed it in the bin and havent heard a peep since! I figured no county court would waste time over £22 in a case like this...

Hope I'm right! Laughing

Just got a letter from a group called Avance demanding money on Fedex's behalf.

So at least that's that problem solved (Can't imagine it's worth their time hiring anyone out to go to court over £6 or whatever they bought the debt for)

I always ask the shipper to state the value on the front as £10 or tick the box gift and state a slightly higher value. Most ebay sellers are happy to do this. I always do the same for people who buy stuff from me also when shipping abroad.

If you buy from within the EU then it doesn't matter, only outside as its as parallel importing.
