Disintergrating stripes - jims4 - 16-07-14

I've got a few early pairs where the stripes and heel tabs are cracking and the coating is coming off. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of fixing them?

I don't mind having a go at painting them, but is it the actual material that is crumbling or is it a coating that I can rub down to a base material to paint on. Cheers for any help.

That is the material itself breaking down through bad storage over the years.
Nothing you can do about it.
You could try some kind of lotion or potion but I don't it'll help.

The pleather is a mesh with some kind of polymer coating. so you could try recoating it with an acrylic polymer.
