Help! Squeaky soops. - damo - 11-04-08

I know this is probably a dumb question but I also know that a lot of you have amazing knowledge about Superstars. So this is my problem: I recently bough a pair of Superstar 2's that have developed an annoying squeak in the ball of the sole. It's not that general leather squeak you get, it's a very localised annoying squeak inside the rubber of the sole. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I had the same problem once before with a pair of Superstars but just ended up dumping them.

Put tape over the backside of the lace holes.
It's the tongue rubbing on the lace holes that's squeaking not the heel.
Pirate recommends talc on the tongue but I've never tried it and she is a bit mental.
