They're not laced 'the adidas way' either, and I doubt Rakuten would relace all their shoes before selling them.

Just checked my own pair, and the difference in colour is not as big as I thought – and they do look well build too, so I'm guessing they're legit.

Btw, is Rakuten like eBay where you can buy anything (including fakes) or is it more like a big retailer, only selling legit stuff? I've seen the name a billion times, but never really given it much thought.

Rakuten is like Ebay is trying to become.
When you search for something it throws up auctions and listings supplied by shops who are on the Rakuten system.
Every chance of buying fakes on Rakuten, it's riddled with 'em.
The colouring doesn't look good and they seem to have an inverted heel clit.
Can you take another photo in direct sunlight please PS ?

No. Not fake. I'm only comparing them to the pick that was on the site where PS bought them.
