She was still born in London so still British. She's the queen because she is the eldest child of the last king this is how monarchs work. As for The duke whilst he is blatantly racist he is hilarious with it, also married to the queen can't get much more royal than that.

She may well have been born in Britian, however the current royal family is of german decent, originally from the german house of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha) - an offshoot of the House of Wettin, a 1000 year old German dynasty who ruled Saxony from the 900's A.D. They also held at various times the Kingships of Poland, Portugal, Bulgaria and Belgium. The Royal family only officially adopted the name "Windsor" in 1917 in light of the strong anti german feelings in the British Empire and public questioning of the loyalty of the royal family with their german sounding name. This was all bought to a head when a german heavy aircraft called Gotha G.IV started to directly bomb London. The fact this enemy airfcraft coincidently bore part of the "British" royal family's name finaly convinced King George V to change the family name and abandon all titles the "British" wing of the german house held under the german crown. (incidently Kaiser Wilhelm, the emperor of Germany at the time was the King George V's cousin, and nephew of Queen Victoria...)
It was Queen Victoria who originally changed the royal family's name to the name of her consort and husband Prince Albert, his family name was Sachsen-Coburg...
However, the german rulers of britain came before the Sachsen-Coburg family, in the form of Queen Victorias ancestor King George I, who was of the Hanover family. This King detested the English and spent as little time as possible in his kingdom and refused to learn english...

And now onto Phil the Greek...
The Duke of Edinburgh was born in Corfu to Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg. The Danish and Greek royal family. His family were exiled and he was educated in the UK and Germany before serving in the Royal Navy after his grandfather, Prince Louis of Battenberg who had become a british citizen, renounced all his german titles and adopted the name Mountbatten. The Duke himself is on record as stating that he considers himself to be Scandinavian, particularly Danish.
And there we have it, a brief history of the last few hundred years of the German, sorry, I mean British Royal family...

For what it's worth we're already going down the US model, ie - wanna go to college? Right you best start saving from when your 10 years old, jobs every summer, etc. Either that or you get a sports scholorship or you get one of the armed forces/multi-national conglomerate to pay you through uni.

Well you have done your research but the original comment made by Mr Pure was how are a German and a Greek our royal family. Point is the Queen is not German regardless of her family history she was born in England so is English, she is the Queen because she is the eldest daughter of the last King. To suggest she isn’t British because she is of forgin decent is nearing BNP territory, imagine if you removed German and inserted Indian or Africa. Anyway as your post proves being British isn’t even a necessity in order to be Queen. She is also head of state in many other countries

My point is that at no point should she or her descendants have become the Royal Family of this great nation cos her bloodline isn't from here.
As for the comment about the BNP, grow the fuck up !
If a white person went to Africa and instituted/bullied his way into becoming known as the King of an African state, the people, nay, the world, would rightly be in uproar as he had no fucking right to assert himself in that way.
The same, as far as I'm concerned, applies to the cunts in Buckingham Palace.
I mean, come on, they're supposed to be our Royal Family but only changed their names to something as English sounding as they possibly could less than 100 years ago.

I get where you are coming from G, no doubt. When you think about it, it can seem out of wack, however there hasn't been a truely English King since Harold Goodwinson took one in the eye in 1066...

But to be the Monarch of a nation, you do not have to be of that nation, or at least in the past anyway. Historically the major Ruling families of Europe have been of Franko-German decent, or Scandinavian decent, from before the time of Charlemagne, right up to the present time. They are all interlinked through marriage, incest and intrigue.

And moving on to the whole English thing... You would be hard pressed in modern Britian to be able to find anyone who is purely "English" - which incidently comes from Anglish, meaning of the Angles, a Germanic tribe from central Europe, from whence England got its name (Angland)...
I would like to point out that I am not refuting the statment that the Queen is british, as she certainly is... I was merely sharing some interesting facts about the ancestry of the Royal family. History is a passion of mine and I enjoy sharing it.
To cast historical fact in with the irrational and hypocritical "beliefs" of the BNP, is, in my eyes a travesty and a cheap shot, and I would thank you to not cast aspersions...

Oh, and DB me ol' mucker, I agree with you, the monarchy is defunct, but is an insitution and wont be going away any time soon. Plus they do bring in those tourist dollars
