Are we talking about the Xbox Elite that is due to come out over here or the original Xbox 360? If you dont have a Hard Drive you cant go On-line and you wouldnt be able to store scores achievements etc other than with a Memory card that aint gonna hold much. I had to buy my 360 with no Hard Drive as they were all sold out at the time but i added one shortly afterwards which was no probs.
The HD DVD thing is supposedly very good and well worth the money but it has another huge power brick to run it and is supposed to run hot and loud which could be a tad annoying if you are watching quiet parts to a film! Im gonna get an Elite when they are released because of the whole High Def thing which on this model can use 1080i and P (I think?) so better overall picture and sound quality. Microsoft yet again fucked the original 360 owners!

I'm almost tempted to chuck mine in and buy a Rubik's Cube.
I'd probably use it more.

Its annoying that the faithful Xbox devotees have now got to shell out more money to get the true HD experience which is kinda what they were selling and marketing it as originally! Microsoft were told that they had got it wrong by leaving off HDMI sockets and a HD Player or was it a clever marketing ploy for idiots like me to spend even more money and make Mr Gates even richer! If it wasnt such a good console i wouldnt bother!

Oh dear , sorry mate!
If yer gonna buy a 360 hang on for the new Black Elite which comes with an HDMI output which means it can use proper High Def which is 1080P (progressive) and is currently the best. It also comes with a 120GB HDD, an upscaling DVD player , full surround sound, Black Wireless Controller/s as standard , Black Headset, it looks much better than the old white one. It hasnt got a UK release yet but its due anytime and they reckon it will be about £245 which aint too bad at all. Just a pity they couldnt have got it right first time!
