Or you could jack it back but don't wear it for a while. If they mention the missing item, put on your most angelic expression and say 'i don't believe it the same thing happened to me',
If said beenie turns up at your gaff and you end up with 2 of em, then you play the hero and claim you tackled the neighborhood washing line thief and rescued their beenie for them.
